Change

As you have noticed, there has been a lack of new recipes the past couple months. This is because we decided to do what most consider extreme and crazy! We are on what is called a 'whole food, plant based diet,' no longer consuming meat, eggs, and dairy. AH! Please, breathe and don't worry. Removing meat and dairy from our dishes does not mean the deliciousness and wonderful flavors will be lost as well.

What prompted this crazy change?

We read "The China Study" by T. Colin Campbell. We highly recommend everyone read this book, which discusses the role of diet in diseases such as heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, autoimmune diseases, and yes even cancer. The shocking results from hundreds of scientific studies prove with high statistical significances that animal based proteins directly influence the diseases listed above. With the many graphs and charts, Dr. Campbell explains the information in a way that those who haven't looked at a science book in 20 years can easily understand.

What is a whole food plant based diet?

This diet has many no nos, which include the following: meat, eggs, milk products, cheese products, oils, processed foods, and processed sugars. Yeah, wow, right? We quickly discovered how difficult the changes were going to be. Currently, we are following a vegan diet (no animal based proteins) while trying to follow the whole plant based diet as closely as possible. We have learned how to reduce the amount of oils, sugar, and processed foods while still maintaining flavor.

How will this effect you?

Hopefully, not at all! We will still suggest possible meat and cheese add ins for those of you who can't survive going one meal without them.

When will you begin to see new recipes?

Hopefully soon! We have been learning new techniques and flavor combinations. We had cooked several new recipes and made many notes. If the second go-round tastes delicious we will start posting.
